Description of Aculepeira ceropegia

Physical Characteristics

Lijkt sterk op Aculepeira carbonaria.

Female 9 to 15 mm.
Abdomen has a rather pointed shape with the rear extending beyond the spinnerets. Colour yellow-brown to reddish brown with a dark fringed, whitish oak leaf-shaped figure. This fringing is narrower than the one of Aculepeira carbonaria.
Carapace reddish brown with white-grey hair.
Legs clearly light-dark annulated.

Male 7 to 8 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female. Sometimes a little darker.

Habitat

Sunny areas in bushes and low plants. Up to 2,500 m.

Verspreiding

Common in the whole of Europe.

Periode

Summer.
