Description of Cheiracanthium mildei (Yellow sac spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 6 to 11 mm.
Abdomen yellowish with a slightly darker, yellow outlined cardiac mark.
Carapace greenish yellow with a thin yellow band along the edge and faint dark radial stripes.
Legs and palps greenish yellow.

Male 5.5 to 8.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In plants and shrubs and on the ground between undergrowth. Also in and on buildings.

Distribution

Common in the southern half of Europe. Distributed to the north as far as Germany and Belgium.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
