Description of Aphantaulax cincta

Physical Characteristics

Strongly resembles Poecilochroa variana.
Female 5 to 7 mm.
black with a white band on the front side, a sometimes interrupted white median band and two white spots in front of the spinnerets.
Carapace black with a white median band.
Legs alternating reddish brown/dark brown with black femora.
Palps dark brown.

Male 4 to 5.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Warm, open to semi-open areas.

Distribution

Occurs in Southern Europe. Locally not rare.

Period

Summer.
