Description of Alopecosa cuneata

Physical Characteristics

Female 7 to 9 mm.
Abdomen brown with a light brown median band which contains a fairly long, pointed, dark brown cardiac mark.
Carapace brown with a broad light brown median band and a light brown band along the edge.
Legs and palps brown.

Male 6 to 7.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female, but with more contrast. The tibiae of pair of legs I are greatly swollen and black.

Habitat

Sunny, open places, including heathlands, forest edges, etc.

Distribution

Quite common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring and summer.
