Description of Trochosa robusta

Physical Characteristics

Female 11 to 18 mm.
Abdomen dark brown with a clearly defined light cardiac mark.
Carapace dark brown with light sides and a light median band which is a slightly broader at the front with dark spots along the side. Due to this it seems like this band has two loops.
Legs dark brown with lighter spots on the femora .
Palps dark brown..

Male 9 to 15 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female, but with more contrast.

Habitat

Warm, dry and rocky areas with little vegetation, preferably facing south.

Distribution

Occurs in almost the whole of Europe, but quite rare.

Period

Almost all year.
