Description of Philodromus buxi

Physical Characteristics

Female 4 to 7 mm.
Abdomen grayish to brownish with dark spots and often dark cardiac mark.
Carapace greyish to brownish with a broad light median band and a light band along the lower edge.
Legs and palps yellowish brown with dark spots. Femora lighter than the other parts.

Male 3.5 to 5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female, but often clearer. Sometimes the male is uniformly brown.

Habitat

In sunny areas in various plants and trees.

Distribution

Occurs in the southern half of Europe, but rare. Up to the north as far as the Netherlands and Germany.

Period

Spring and summer.
