Description of Heliophanus cupreus

Physical Characteristics

Female 4 to 6 mm.
Abdomen dark with a copper or green metallic shine and a white band along the front. Two pairs of white spots on top, from which the lower pair can be a bit merged together.
Carapace dark with a copper or green metallic shine and flat white hairs.
Legs light yellow-brown with dark ends.
Palps bright yellow.

Male 3.5 to 4 mm.
Without the white markings of the female, but with a strong metallic shine. Legs dark with white hairs on top. Palps black.

Habitat

Sunny forest edges, gardens and shrubs.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring and summer.
