Description of Platnickina tincta

Physical Characteristics

Female 2.5 to 4.5 mm.
Abdomen whitish with numerous brown and black spots and two large black spots on the front.
Carapace pale yellow with a triangular black spot that covers the eye area and a thin black band along the edge.
Legs and palps pale with dark brown annulations.

Male 2.5 tot 4 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female. Top of the abdomen sometimes entirely black.

Habitat

In several areas, such as forests, heathlands, dunes, river banks and gardens.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Almost all year.
