Description of Steatoda bipunctata (Common false-widow)

Physical Characteristics

Female 4.5 to 7 mm.
Abdomen reddish brown to black-brown with a thin light band on the front and a thin, sometimes faint, median band.
Carapace reddish brown to black-brown.
Legs and palps light-dark annulated.

Male 4 to 5.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

On rocks and trees and in buildings. In the mountains up to 2,000 m.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

All year.
