Description of Heriaeus oblongus

Physical Characteristics

The whole body is covered with striking, long white spines.

Female 5.5 to 8 mm.
Abdomen oblong and yellow to green with three lightly coloured longitudinal stripes and a faint red cardiac mark.
Carapace yellow to green with a light coloured median band.
Legs and palps yellow to green. Downwards slightly darker.

Male 4.5 to 6 mm.
Looks like female. The pattern on the abdomen is somewhat less clear. The palps are strikingly reddish brown at the tip.

Habitat

In warm, dry areas in plants and shrubs.

Distribution

Common in almost the whole of Europe.

Period

Summer.
