Description of Tmarus piger

Physical Characteristics

Female 5 tot 6 mm.
Abdomen highly variable in colour and markings. Usually silvery or greenish grey to dark brown with dark or light transverse lines. Sometimes light-coloured with a dark pattern or orange-red with a whitish back.
Carapace brown with black-brown sides and a thin light stripe along the edge.
Legs and palps brown with faint annulations.

Male 3.5 to 4 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In warm areas on branches and bark. Very well camouflaged.

Distribution

Occurs in central and southern Europe, but not common.

Period

Spring and summer.
